Relocation & Expansion of Public Bulk Terminal
Railroad Yard - Port of New Orleans
A
Master plan to provide a new 470 car capacity rail yard at the Port of New Orleans, which
included an analysis of Bulk Terminal railroad operations; soil investigations and
embankment design; drainage requirements; yard access; construction phasing and
construction cost estimates followed by detailed plans and specifications for the
expansion. The project included more than 15,000 feet of track, 22 turnouts, major
drainage facilities, track scale and yard lighting.
Rapid Transit Study - New Orleans
Airport
In conjunction with two other
engineering firms, Fromherz Engineers prepared an Economic and Technological Feasibility
Study of a rapid transit service from the Union Passenger Terminal in downtown New Orleans
to New Orleans International Airport.
Port Bienville - Hancock County,
Mississippi
A 5
½ mile long railroad was constructed from the mainline tracks of L & N Railroad
to the Port Bienville Industrial area. A total of 8 ½ miles of tracks were installed, 3
miles were constructed inside the industrial area to provide rail service to the public
dock, and a turnaround between the main line and the spur.
Bunny Bread Bakery - New Orleans,
Louisiana
A bulk unloading facility was constructed for this modern bakery in eastern New
Orleans. Included in the project is a 0.6 mile spur track from the Public Belt Railroad
Line to the bulk storage area.
Flintkote Company - New Orleans,
Louisiana
The
new Flintkote warehouse and office in eastern New Orleans included a 2,500 foot spur track
from the main line of the L & N Railroad to the building unloading dock.
Betz Laboratories, Inc. -
Reserve, Louisiana &
Manvel, Texas
The new plant, office, warehouse, production building, and tank farm included a 700
foot spur track from the main line to the building loading dock. The spur has a three car
capacity with a one car chemical unloading area consisting of a sump between the tracks
which feeds into a holding tank.
